Dedicated to the conservation of the Madison River
PROJECTS
We strive to increase biodiversity and habitat complexity to support long-term ecosystem resilience in the face of climate change and related phenomena such as droughts, high water temperatures, and other unforeseen threats.
01. NATAL STREAMS PROJECT
–
We have approved a project, cooperative with FWP to determine the number of adult fish in the river originating in the tributaries vs the main river. A two-step study will include analysis of water samples from the tributaries and then analysis fish taken during the 2020-2021 population study (electroshocking).
02. RUBY SWALE RECONNECT
–
We repaired the limiting ecological function of the riparian corridor within the Project Area including reduced hydrologic connectivity, cattle browse and trampling. The goals of the restoration was to restore the swale to its natural state.
03. SOUTH MEADOW CREEK HEADGATE
–
Madison Conservation District (MCD) and Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP) have been cooperating with landowners on a South Meadow Creek restoration projects since 2010.
Con·ser·va·tion:
