Ryan Kreiner, a Native Fish Biologist with Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, will present on Arctic grayling and westslope cutthroat trout conservation in Southwest Montana. Both species have been reduced to approximately 5% of their historic distributions in the region due to a variety of threats including habitat degradation, non-native trout species, historic over-harvest, and climate change. Kreiner will discuss the current status and regional goals for both species, as well as projects going on to achieve these goals. He will speak about current conservation efforts both inside and outside of the Madison basin.
Presentations will be available both in person at the Madison Valley Public Library and virtually.
